Indian origin teenager Neel Patel was selected on Monday by Cricket Australia for the Under-19 multi-format series against India in September.
Neel is among the 16 selected to travel for three one-day matches and two four-day games in Rajkot and Ahmedabad respectively starting September 13.
The New South Wales opening batter has been on the rise at the junior cricket level. At the age of 16, Neel became one of the youngest players to score more than 1000 runs in Sydney Premier Cricket First Grade in a calendar year.
Apart from facing the new ball and occupying the crease for long periods, Neel also bowls handy off-spin.
One of the habits that helps Neel improve his game is by keeping a journal and document each innings. “I think it’s just to stay on track with what I do and just be accountable,” he told Cricket Australia.
“The OneNote keeps track of my performances, what I did well, and what I can improve on for every single game, so I’m always learning,” Neel said.
