Jamshedpur FC is set to close operations ahead of the upcoming 2026-27 Indian Super League season after it decided not to pay the initial instalment of INR 55 lakhs as a participation fee.
However, before the club’s first team ceases operations, it will play the ongoing Durand Cup. JFC is in a group with Indian Air Force, SC Delhi, and Defenders FC.
Therefore, Jamshedpur FC will take part in its group-stage fixture against SC Delhi on Tuesday, August 4.
Jamshedpur began its Durand Cup campaign with a 5-0 win over Defenders FC led by a hat-trick from Raynier Fernandes.
The club statement announcing the decision to shut shop said that it remains committed to the growth and development of football in India through other capacities, including at the grassroot level.
