Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have released Grace Harris, Linsey Smith, D Hemalatha and Gautami Nayak ahead of WPL 2027. Ellyse Perry, who pulled out of the 2026 edition citing personal reasons, has made herself available for the upcoming season.
Delhi Capitals (DC), the four-time runners-up, let go of Alana King, Lizelle Lee, Sneh Rana, Taniya Bhatia, Pragati Singh and Eddla Srujana.
UP Warriorz (UPW), who finished at the bottom of the table in the 2026 season, released as many as nine players. That included four overseas players – Deandra Dottin, Chloe Tryon, Charli Knott, Amy Jones – and Shweta Sehrawat, their only retention ahead of the 2026 season. Apart from them, they also let go of Asha Sobhana, Kiran Navgire, G Trisha and Suman Meena.
Danni Wyatt-Hodge was the most high-profile player Gujarat Giants (GG) released. The others were Ayushi Soni, Titas Sadhu and Shivani Singh.
Two-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) released five Indians and one overseas player: Milly Illingworth, G Kamalini, Saika Ishaque, Kranthi Reddy, Poonam Khemnar and Triveni Vasistha.
The fifth edition of the WPL will be played from January 14 to February 7. The mini-auction for that will be held on October 28 in Kochi.
A team can have a maximum of 18 players in their squad, including six from overseas.
