Yash Vir Singh fired his personal best of 85.41m on Friday to clinch the bronze medal in javelin throw final at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow.
The 24-year-old started with an invalid attempt as his right foot touched the tramline. But he fired back in style on the second, getting the javelin at a distance of 78.55m, that displaced his compatriot Rohit Yadav in third place.
He had slipped down to eighth by the time he could get another throw in but as he landed his third attempt at 81.33m, he jumped up to sixth and made the cut to get three more attempts.
Unhappy with his fourth attempt, Yash stepped over the line and registered a foul throw. With the wind quickening in the final two throws, Yash was always facing an uphill battle to go higher.
Sitting sixth before the final attempt, Yash produced a mighty effort to leapfrog three others and clinch the third place.
Yash had made it through to the 12-man final with a best effort of 78.36m, which put him in 10th place, just one centimetre behind compatriot Rohit.
