Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin had another tough day as Edinburgh Castle Rockers defeated his side Dublin Guardians by four wickets in the eighth match of the European T20 Premier League 2026 at The Hague on Sunday.
Guardians skipper Ashwin won the toss and opted to bat first. However, his team was dismissed on 109 in 18 overs.
The 39-year-old Ashwin scored eight runs in 12 balls without hitting any boundaries.
In response, the Castle Rockers chased down the target in just 13.4 overs. Off-spinner Ashwin bowled an economical spell, conceding only 20 runs in his four overs, but he did not manage to pick a single wicket. He did help Josh Little remove Castle Rockers’ opener J J Smuts by taking a catch.
New Zealand’s left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner was named the Player of the Match for his figures of five for 16 during the Guardians’ innings.
On Saturday, in the Guardians’ 33-run loss to Glasgow Cosmic, Ashwin had conceded 43 runs in his four-over spell, which included the wicket of Moises Henriques. With the bat too, he disappointed with a two-ball duck.
