Nepal opened its SAFF Women’s Championship 2026 campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Bhutan on Monday at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao, Goa.

It was Dorji Edon’s 23rd minute-own goal which proved to be the difference between the sides from Group A.

Both teams next face Sri Lanka in the tournament, which has India, Bangladesh, and Maldives placed in the other group.

Host India is taking on Maldvies later in the day.

The top two teams from each group will make it to the semifinals, which will be held on June 3, while the summit clash will be held on June 6.
