Four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen has extended his contract with Red Bull Racing till the 2030 season.
The Dutch driver has been part of the Milton Keynes-based team since midway through the 2016 season after spending a year with the sister team Toro Rosso.
“I am really pleased with the contract extension,” Verstappen said via a statement.
“We have the best people and I’m excited to keep working together with everyone to get back to the top again. This remains the ultimate goal that all of us have been working towards and will continue to pursue.”
Verstappen’s renewal announcement comes in the lead-up to the Dutch Grand Prix on home soil on August 23, and after rumours linking him to seats at Mercedes and McLaren.
Despite the Red Bull powertrain being termed the best engine on the grid, the car has been a handful for Verstappen and Isack Hadjar to handle, mainly due to the understeer mid-corner.
The 28-year-old has still managed to bag three podiums this season, including two right before the summer break in Belgium and Hungary.
